PHNOM PENH: Police arrested a rapist who is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl nine times, reported the Khmer Times.
The report said the man was arrested by police from the Chey Sen District, Preah Vihear Province and sent to to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Office of Preah Vihear Provincial Police.
The suspect was arrested on August 30 at Veal Bor Village, Putra commune, Chey Sen district.
According to Colonel Rith Sona, who is the police inspector of Chey Sen district, the suspect was Hang Phalla, a 40-year-old man from Veal Bor Village, Putra Commune.
The 12-year-old victim lives in Veal Bor village, Putra commune, and was raped nine times by the suspect at the suspect's potato field.
Police said the suspect confessed to the authorities that he lured the girl by promising to give her money sometime in July 2022
Colonel Rith said that after receiving a complaint from the girl's family and an order to take action by Major General Sous Sok Dara, Preah Vihear Provincial Police ordered the Chey Sen District police to investigate.
Following the investigations, at 3.30 pm on August 30, 2022, the Chey Sen District police arrested the suspect at his house.
He was interrogated at the Chey Sen District Inspectorate and sent to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Office of the Provincial Police for further action.
