Singapore Covid-19 cases near 32,000

SINGAPORE: Singapore has preliminarily confirmed an additional 344 Covid-19 cases as of noon today, bringing the tally of infections in the city-state to 31,960.

Data on the new cases show that only four are Singaporeans or permanent residents, while the rest are foreign workers staying at dormitories, said the republic's Ministry of Health (MOH).

"The lower number of cases today is partly due to fewer tests being conducted," said the ministry, adding that it is still working through the details of the cases and further updates will be shared later today.

In full data released late yesterday, Singapore classified 1,673 cases as community transmission, 580 as imported, and 29,363 as foreign workers residing in dorms.

As of yesterday, 690 patients remain hospitalised with eight in critical condition in intensive care, while 23 have died. - BERNAMA
