KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Humanitarian Aid and Relief (MAHAR) has called for an immediate ceasefire and the reopening of borders for emergency humanitarian aid in Gaza.
MAHAR honorary advisor Nurul Izzah Anwar, in a statement today, said the Israel regime's attacks have entered their eighth month and claimed the lives of about 138,000 Palestinians as of June this year.
"The latest attacks on the Al-Awda School in Abasan have claimed dozens of lives and injured hundreds more.
"Shortly after this massacre, the Israeli regime attacked other refugee camps, including Mawasi camp in Khan Younis and Shati camp in Gaza City," she said.
"Israel has used starvation and forced displacement as weapons of war, violating basic human rights in Gaza. Netanyahu has deliberately delayed a ceasefire, prolonging the conflict until the next US Presidential election, despite Hamas agreeing to negotiate," she said.
Nurul Izzah added that the ongoing aggression makes a two-state solution impossible, citing repeated violations of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Criminal Court (ICC), and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
"Gaza is nearly devastated, with 90 percent of its buildings destroyed and health services crippled.
"The Rafah humanitarian aid route is closed, leaving Gazans without sufficient food and medicine. Infectious diseases are spreading, worsening the already dire humanitarian crisis," she said.
For the past 57 years, she said Israel has evicted thousands of Palestinians, using the land for settlements inhabited exclusively by Israelis, leading to systematic human rights violations.
"Military attacks, land grabs, economic sanctions, and infrastructure damage hinder Palestine's ability to establish a stable state.
"Palestinians are entitled to equal rights and called for a sovereign Palestinian state, recognised by 145 of the 193 United Nations member states," she said.
