SINGAPORE: Lee Hsien Yang, the youngest son of Singapore's founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, is currently a political refugee in the United Kingdom after seeking asylum there in 2022 as a last resort.
The brother of Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in a Facebook posting on Tuesday that he remains a Singaporean citizen and hopes that one day it will be safe for him to return home.
Hsien Yang claimed in the post that, together with his late sister Lee Wei Ling, they feared the abuse of state organs against them and their family.
Hsien Yang further claimed that, because of the risk, he was unable to attend Wei Ling's funeral.
The Lee siblings became estranged following their father's death, with a public feud arising over, among other issues, the fate of his residence at 38 Oxley Road. BERNAMA
