WASHINGTON: Republican candidate Donald Trump has accepted US President Joe Biden's invitation to the White House, Trump's campaign team said on Wednesday.
Trump is set for a historic second term as US president after defeating Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the race for the White House.
Biden called Trump to congratulate him on the victory and extended an invitation to the White House to ensure a smooth transition between the administrations, Trump Campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said.
"President Trump looks forward to the meeting, which will take place shortly, and very much appreciated the call," he added.
Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to Biden. To this day, he refuses to admit defeat. Trump ultimately stayed away from Biden's swearing-in ceremony, breaking with tradition. –BERNAMA
