KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s automotive sector posted slower sales in February, falling 18 per cent or 8,612 units from January on shorter working month due to Chinese New Year holidays.
Sales of new vehicles fell to 39,838 units last month 40,563 units in the same month in 2018, despite higher production at 40,249 units this year, the Malaysian Automotive Association said today.
Year-to-date sales were higher at 88,288 units compared to 85,123 units in the corresponding period last year.
MAA expects the sales volume for March to be better as it would be a longer working month.
“Most companies will be rushing to meet their deliveries before their financial year ending March 31, 2019,” it added.
