PETALING JAYA: Hino Motor Sales (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd recently organized another round of the Hino Total Support Contest (TS Contest) to foster greater knowledge and skill among the dealers.
Being in its sixth year this time, the contest saw the participation of 130 contestants from 36 companies of Hino authorized dealer.
Each contestants were battling for champion, first runner-up and second runner-up prizes for each category; sales, services and parts.
The grand prize – the 3S Champion – will takehome a challenge trophy and cash incentive worth RM3,000.
Additionally, all the champions are up for a trip to Hino Motors Limited Japan in 2020.
Atsushi Uchiyama, managing director of Hino Motors Sales (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd said: “We have two basic concepts of Total Support which are ‘maximize vehicle uptime’ and ‘minimize vehicle lifetime cost’. To achieve these two values, each person in Sales, Service, and Spare Parts plays an important role.”
Yasushi Nakamura, general manager of Total Support Regional Management Division, Hino Motors Ltd added, “Hino Motors Ltd has recognized the significance of this event as an opportunity to develop human resources.
“To encourage and motivate competent staff for further development, we have invested in holding the International Assembly of HINO Skills Contest Winners in Japan since 2015,” he said.
Under Sales category, contestants were evaluated based on the skill to promote and recommend the best product that matches customer’s nature of business.
They were also examined based on their knowledge to present an in-depth explanation of the new Hino 300 Series AMT heavy-duty truck.
Throughout the contest, contestants under this category were required to explain the concept of Hino Total Support to customers which includes modules such as the maintenance contract, Free Service Programme (FSP), Free Parts Programme (FPP), and rules and regulations of road transport in Malaysia.
Contestants under the service category were required to complete the technical task to fulfil customers' requests and satisfaction.
They were evaluated based on their skill and knowledge of vehicle maintenance, mechanical parts solving, skills in Electrical Trouble Shooting by using Hino diagnosis tools explorer (DX II) and other advanced skills in problem solving software.
As for the parts category, contestants were gauged on their knowledge to identify and comparing between Hino Genuine Parts and forged parts in the market.
Their expertise of using the Electronic Parts Catalogues (EPC) which to provide speed and accuracy in determining the correct parts to the right vehicle was also tested.
