A campaign by a local label talks to women about owning their “place”.

THERE’S something powerful about owning your narrative. Once you have faced yourself — unfiltered, truthful and closely examined — and the stories that you have gone through and have experienced, you will be more courageous and more in control of your life.

Local label Hanya talks about this in its new campaign called #sheknowsherplace — celebrating strength, passion and purpose in their different manifestations.

Its Resort ’19 Collection campaign highlights three exceptionally different women, unified by being alpha women.

Campaign headliner Sharifah Sakinah, who is known to unapologetically live up to what she preaches, advocates everything from the right to dress-to-self express and body positivity.

She owns her story of living with mild Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and mild dyslexia, and took charge of her conditions by working out and eating right, and has become the epitome of success through hard work, a journey narrated on her social media platform.

A former deputy editor of Glam magazine and a mother of two, Yana Baharudin is also the face of the campaign.

She now juggles her role as a mother and freelancer after stepping down from her 12-year journey in the magazine world for different pursuits.

Leagha McMahon, of Irish and Jamaican descent, is a passionate trainer at FlyProject and another face in the campaign.

Hanya founder Veen Dee says the campaign draws direct inspiration from the term “back where they belong”, often used to put women down.

“While the country moves forward, some people still think that women cannot progressively grow. Social media gives women scathing comments about everything — from how they dress to how they look — and I think it’s important for women to know their place and hold their heads high.

“The campaign serves as a proud reminder that women, adorned with concealed battle scars, will thrive in many aspects.”

The Hanya Resort ’19 collection delivers easy-to-layer pieces in earthy and neutral hues. True to Hanya’s signature style, the line emphasises on detailing on sleeves and silhouettes for all sizes, including pregnant women.

The silhouette ranges from exaggerated puffy sleeves to meticulously intricate dresses.

This line, prized from RM159 to RM369, is now available on shophanya.com and Robinsons at The Gardens Mall.
