KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actress, TV host and entrepreneur Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor made history when she was appointed as French cosmetics and fragrance brand Lancome's first ambassador for Malaysia, recently.

The new position also makes her the international company's first ambassador donning the hijab.

The Suri Hati Mr Pilot star shared the news earlier this week on her Instagram, gushing that it still felt surreal to be part of the Lancome family.

"When #LancomeMY asked me to be their first ambassadress, I couldn’t say no to a brand that represents high quality products with amazing vision for women all across the globe!" she wrote.

"I have always been a fan of #LancomeMY and I have grown to love the brand more over the years because its values, vision and philosophy are aligned with mine.

"I am truly happy and grateful for this opportunity, to represent a brand that upholds great values! I hope this will give me another platform to celebrate what it means to be a woman!"

With this new appointment, Neelofa joins the brand's star-studded list of ambassadors which include Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, Lupita Nyong'o, Lily Collins and Isabella Rossellini.

In 2015, Neelofa was Lancome's spokesperson for its women's fragrance line La Nuit Tresor.

Besides Lancome, the 28-year-old is also the ambassador for the Austrian jewellery brand Swarovski.
