KUALA LUMPUR: Actor and producer Datuk Hans Isaac admits to have met with Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo three times in the past one and a half months for interviews for the chairman post of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas).
He said that during one of their meetings, he had presented his suggestions on how to elevate the film industry further as well as the issue on ensuring that the welfare of its players be taken care of.
“I’ve been in this industry for 25 years now and among the things I think which should change are some of Finas’ policies especially those with regards to EPF and Socso for artistes and production crew, as well as the introduction of other benefits.
“It’s about changing the future, never mind about what had taken place in the past. We need to progress,” he said when met at a Dewi Remaja 2018/2019 event at Hard Rock Cafe here, yesterday.
The 47-year-old artiste who runs his own production company Tall Order Sdn Bhd said that he agreed with former Finas director-general Datuk Zain Hamzah that the post of chairman be filled by “orang filem”, one who would understand the ins and outs of the industry.
Hans said that having an experienced industry player to helm the corporation would be an added bonus.
The Finas chairman post fell vacant following the resignation of Datuk Khusairi Abdul Talib earlier this year.
Besides Hans, three other candidates are also being considered for the job. They too have met up with Gobind.
