KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Adira Suhaimi has vowed to fight for the custody of her three children with businessman Datuk Seri Adnan Abu or Datuk Red.
"My three children are still small and I've never been away from them, even for a night.
“I didn’t simply get pregnant and deliver my babies just so I could give them up. Whatever it is I will fight for their custody,” said 28-year-old Adira in a news report yesterday.
The Sabah-born Akademi Fantasia Season 8 runner-up also said that she would not separate the children from their father.
“I may be filing for divorce from him but this does not mean I don't respect his right to visit his children,” said Adira.
She also said that she was ready to be a single parent and was “strong in facing challenges.”
“My children are my source of strength and have always been.”
On Oct 9, Adira said she was seeking a divorce from Adnan, having filed for it several months ago.
Adnan however rejected the application made by his wife at the Gombak Barat Syariah Lower Court in Rawang.
Syariah Judge Mohd Faizal Habib set Dec 17 for the case to be mentioned.
Apparently, Adira had submitted her divorce application on April 1, but had to postpone it as she was pregnant with their third child at the time.
Adira and Adnan, 40, were married in Songkhla, Thailand on Dec 3, 2015. They have three children Anggrek, Asan and Anggun.
Adnan is also married to another woman with whom he has five children.
