KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza revealed that she almost gave up trying to have babies via In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment.
However, it was the perseverence of another woman who had the same predicament as she was, that gave her strength to carry on until she finally succeeded in conceiving her little mini-me, Siti Aafiyah.
And that woman, said the 40-year-old songstress, was none other than the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah herself, who had persistently undergone IVF for 17 times.
“At one time, I almost gave up all hopes of ever having a baby, but I always remember how determined Tuanku was.”
“Compared to Tuanku who did it 17 times, I was only on my fifth try (which was a success). Thank you Tuanku, you inspired me,” she said in a news report today.
Siti was giving a speech at the launch of Alpha IVF & Women’s Specialists in Kota Damansara, recently. Gracing the event was Tunku Azizah.
Also present was the centre’s founder, Datuk Dr Colin Lee, the specialist who was instrumental in assisting Siti during her IVF procedures.
Siti married Datuk Seri Khalid Mohd Jiwa on Aug 21, 2006. After almost 11 years, Siti finally fell pregnant in 2017 after undergoing several fertility treatments.
