KUALA LUMPUR: Ejen Ali The Movie continues to dominate the local cinema scene three weeks into its cinema release in this year-end holiday season heavily populated with numerous big-ticket Hollywood feature films.

Despite the stiff competition, Ejen Ali The Movie has earned its stripes as box office receipts have exceeded RM25 million in Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei.

Primeworks Studios’ chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar said: “We are extremely blessed to receive this monumental support from our families, fans and peers in the Malaysian animation industry, as every single ticket bought and every review shared has led us to this milestone. The box-office validation has definitely opened the doors to bring the animated movie’s cinematic experience to a wider audience in the neighbouring nation of Indonesia.”

Wau Animation’s chief executive officer Usamah Zaid Yasin added: “While witnessing the hype around the animated movie throughout the past three weeks, we’ve been receiving so many enquiries from fans in Indonesia asking when they can catch the movie too. We even had a dedicated fan fly to Malaysia just to see the movie, and we’re thankful now to be able to officially announce a date and invite all Ejens from Indonesia on Ejen Ali’s mission to create more box-office records.”

Ejen Ali The Movie will be ringing in the new year at selected cinemas in Indonesia on Jan 1. It is available at CGV, Flix cinemas, Kota Cinema and Cinemax.

Co-produced by Primeworks Studios and WAU Animation, the movie follows 12-year-old Ejen Ali, who after being accidentally recruited as a spy has now grown to embrace his role in secret agency Meta Advance Tactical Agency (MATA) to protect the futuristic city of Cyberaya from outside threats.

Ali is surprised to discover that he is no longer the only master of the Infinity Retinal Intelligence System (IRIS) gadget since MATA has now upgraded to IRIS Neo for all MATA agents.

When the new invention leads Ali to question his place and usefulness to MATA, he is approached by a rogue figure who claims to know about a surprising personal connection to Ali.

Risking his loyalty to MATA, Ejen Ali embarks on a thrilling chase to unravel these mysterious links.
