HALAL meals, Muslim-friendly lodgings and freedom to practice their faith. These are three major concerns that Muslims look out for when they travel.

Now, Muslims can book their own travels with ease, thanks to the newly launched Muslim-friendly travel online booking platform, HalalHoliday.

The portal offers tourists better selections of Muslim-friendly lodging facilities as well as dining options - making sure that Muslims can comfortably travel anywhere, worry-free.

HalalHoliday chief executive officer and founder, Abdul Rahman Mohd Ali said the site is offering not only Umrah packages, but also international holidays as well as local destinations, cruise holidays, hotels and flights.

According to Abdul Rahman, the site which will be fully operational in September, will list more than 600,000 hotels across 180 countries, with flights available on more than 500 airlines.

“We will make sure that participating tour companies know how to cater for Muslim tourists by providing training on identifying and supplying halal food, and also preparing spaces for ablutions and prayers during the trips,” he said.

HalalHoliday is also working with the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) and the Association of Umrah and Hajj Travel Agents (Papuh) to attract more traditional agencies to list their deals on HalalHoliday platform, turning it into a marketplace for travel operators.
