Celebrities grace luxury watch and jewellery exhibition, writes Kasmiah Mustapha

IN addition to an extensive array of timepieces and jewellery displayed in the A Journey Through Time VIII, the exhibition also saw a number of celebrities.

Representing refinement and luxury, these entertainers include Carly Paoli, a classical music virtuoso along with Laura Wright, one of the biggest selling classical artistes.

And for the first time, the event was graced by a host of Bollywood stars including Karishma Kapoor, Sophie Choudry, Neha Dhupia and Shibani Kashyap.

Wright performed at the opening gala and dinner on Nov 21, which was hosted by Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Paoli will perform for four nights from Nov 25. On Nov 23, it was the Bollywood night as the stars made their appearances.

YTL Land & Development, YTL Hotels and Properties vice-president Joseph Yeoh said: “The presence of these multi-talented and world-renowned artistes at A Journey Through Time VIII offered glamour and sophistication. They bring elegance and understated class to what is set to be a truly thrilling exhibition and showcase this year.”

“This event is our most eclectic showcase to-date. In addition to the presence of these international stars, visitors can look forward to almost 2,800 square metres of exhibition space as well as chic fashion parade, daily talks and delectable cuisine, all of which are open to the public,” he said.

On display from Nov 21 to Nov 28 are rare private collections, first-in-market editions and exquisite pieces from over 125 luxury brands, five of which are debuting in Malaysia. These include brands such as Bedat & Co, Cecil Purnell, Hermes, Omega, Hublot, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Ulysse Nardin, Breguet, Dior, Maitres du Temps and Khronos, a multi-brand boutique which is home to a selection of brands as well as Jaeger-LeCoultre which will be featuring 12 exclusive pieces, each worth RM1.25 million.

Also present are celebrated jewellery brands such as Gübelin, Ceres, Carrera y Carrera, Garrard and Damiani, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary.

There are several pieces that are flown here exclusively for the event. Maurice Lacroix is presenting Masterpiece Gravity, one of the first timepieces to feature an all-silicon assortment as well as three watches from the FC Barcelona collection. Maitres du Temps has unveiled the new Chapter One Round Guilloche Translucent as well as selected pieces from the Chapter Two collection.

Others are watches from Hermes, including Arceau Lift, Arceau Full Paved and Arceau Le Temps Suspendu.

Damiani is showing several pieces of jewellery that have won the Diamonds International Award and the Vulcania Masterpiece in White Gold. Carrera y Carrera with their Seda Imperial Collection while Gübelin is highlighting their exquisite range of red gemstone pieces.
