KUALA LUMPUR: THE American-Italian eatery Italiannies recently opened its latest outlet in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, showing off the restaurants’ modern new look.
Decked in a contemporary interior with elements of rustic Italian charm, the outlet features an open chef’s counter, which allows guests to see firsthand how the culinary team prepares the desserts, pizza and signature bread from scratch.
The cozy ambience and elegant atmosphere is accentuated by the mellow sounds of easy listening music playing in the background, giving diners an intimate experience while enjoying their meals.
In conjunction with the newly launched outlet, Streets tried the restaurants’ signature dishes which have captured the hearts of many food enthusiasts since its first opened 10 years ago.
To start off your American-Italian experience, Italiannies head chef Candy Han recommends diners try the spinach and artichoke formaggio — a delicious dip made of spinach, artichoke and mushrooms in a creamy blend of fresh cheese and topped with sun-dried tomatoes.
Another inviting appetiser is the quattro platter, which is a combination of deep-fried risotto balls, calamari, fried lemon cheesy balls and zucchini string served with marinara sauce and alfredo sauce for dipping.
For a heavier meal, diners can opt for the chicken Milanese; grilled chicken breast served over cream spinach, and topped with chilled tomato-caper relish.
“Those who fancy having the risotto can choose between the seafood risotto or the mushroom risotto,” said Han.
The seafood risotto is a medley of seafood with arborio rice simmered in a mussel and clam broth while the mushroom risotto is made up of sauteed mushrooms and grana padano cheese with arborio rice.
“We also have a selection of deserts such as creme brulee, tiramisu, or Italian gelato,” said Han.
Delicious and affordable, the dishes on the menu are priced between RM9++ and RM60.
With the festive season around the corner, the restaurant will also be having Christmas fare.
Diners can enjoy a three-course meal at a starting price of RM45.90++.
Diners will be served appetisers such as smoked salmon carpaccio, or pumpkin and grilled tiger prawn soup and a selection of main dishes such as chicken roulade, pan seared barramundi, rolled ribeye steak or soft shell crab.
To end the three-course meal, diners will be served a creamy eggnog creme brulee.
