KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein expressed his shock over the incident.

“It is indeed a shocking incident but we must accept this fate. We must remember Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin’s contributions to the country and carry on his efforts.

“Only when something like this happens that we realise how short our time in the world is and we have to make the best of it,” he told reporters.

Hishamudidn urged politicians to stop arguing amongst each other.

“All of our bickerings are meaningless once we leave this world,” he said.

In addition, former minister Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim described the late Jamaluddin as a very practical man who worked more and talked less.

Rais said that he and Jamaluddin were had been close friends since their youth.

"He was a very commendable diplomat who had many ideas and opinions for the country.

"We have lost an honest man and I hope that his name will appear in the pages of our history," Rais said at the Taman Tun Abdul Razak mosque in Ampang, here, before the jenazah prayer.

About 200 people attended the solat jenazah including Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku AdnanTengku Mansor and Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi.
