KLANG: Single mothers from the Pertubuhan Ibu Tunggal Semarak Kasih Selangor benefitted from the Dance for Fund Charity dinner where RM100,000 was raised, recently.

The event at the Hai Thiam Lo Restaurant saw more than 500 members of the Wynette Whirl Line Dance Studio and other well-wishers contributing towards the association’s building fund which requires a RM1.5 million budget.

The studio’s principal, Wynette Keng, handed over a mock cheque for RM80,000 raised for the dinner and another RM20,000 from other donors to association chairperson Pauline Leong.

The evening saw line dance performances by studio members, children of the Semarak Kasih Home, Power Puff Girls, a solo dance by Lim Sae Min and a belly dance by Ling’s Dance Studio.

The association was established on July 7, 2011 by seven single mothers who developed an education and handicraft workshop for the benefit of those who found it difficult to juggle between their career and the well-being of their children.

There are three homes in Klang with 35 children and the association plans to house them under one roof to make it more cost-effective. By Adrian David
