DUNGUN: The State Government will build at least two new hockey stadiums at the existing sports complex in Gong Badak to encourage further development of the sport.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the new stadiums would replace the field at the MBKT Hockey Stadium at Jalan Sultan Mahmud which was small and could only be used for local tournament.

“Hockey is one of the popular sports among the people here and this was proven by the success of the Terengganu hockey team in the recent national league,” he told reporters after launching a circumcision ceremony at Sekolah kebangsaan Sura here today.

On the rewards for the team that defeated Sapura 9-2 on Sunday, he said he would bring it up at the Exco meeting and discuss the matter before making an announcement.
