KUALA TERENGGANU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday expressed his support for the new Terengganu administration, which he said has been running well since the change of menteri besar in May.
He said he had emphasised to Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman the importance of unity and continuity in the administration.
“I have seen that everything has proceeded smoothly,” he said after attending a closed-door briefing on development in Terengganu at Wisma Darul Iman here. Najib was here on a one-day working visit.
He said programmes that proved to be good in the previous administration would be followed through by the current menteri besar.
“I am sure Datuk Razif will make improvements and add value (to the state government),” he said.
On May 12, Razif was sworn in as new menteri besar to replace Datuk Seri Ahmad Said in a move that stirred controversy in Terengganu.
“Generally, I am satisfied with the achievement of the state government and I believe the menteri besar and the state administration will be more diligent in implementing projects that have been approved.”
Najib said he had also taken notice of Razif’s efforts in Terengganu, based on the theme “New Terengganu Transformation”.
Najib said Terengganu had identified several development programmes, such as flood mitigation, for the Federal Government to prioritise when drafting the 11th Malaysia Plan
