UDA Holdings Bhd (UDA) and Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru held a charity event called "Majlis Di Ambang Ramadan 1435H".

Apart from helping the less fortunate, UDA chairman Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani said the charity event also aimed to remind the Muslim community how to prepare themselves mentally and spiritually for the fasting month.

"This programme also serves as a platform for UDA to engage with the residents of Kampung Baru," said Johari.

UDA donated RM30,000 to 300 orphans from Rumah Amal Nur El Amin in Rawang; Pusat Jagaan Budi Bistari Baru Arang in Selangor and orphans in Kampong Baru as well as students from Pusat Tahfiz Al-Yamani.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, UDA presented a donation to the mosque.

Johari said helping one another should not only be confined to the month of Ramadan.

Residents as well as the mosque committee members and UDA staff members cooked over 30 pots of bubur lambuk during the charity event which doubled as a community effort as it also involved a gotong-royong.

Also present was UDA managing director Ahmad Abu Bakar.

The bubur lambuk was divided into 5,400 packets and distributed to the orphans who attended the programme.
