KUANTAN: An unemployed man was sentenced to 17 years’ jail by the High Court here today for causing the death of his former supervisor last year.
Judicial Commissioner Datuk Ab Karim Ab Rahman ordered Wan Nazari Mohamed, 28, to serve the sentence from the day of his arrest on Feb 8, 2014.
Wan Nazari, who appeared calm when the sentence was handed down to him, pleaded guilty of causing the death of Md Saipul Mizan Ibrahim, 34, at a factory in Gebeng, Beserah, here at 2.20 am on Feb 8 last year.
The charge under Section 304 (a) of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail term of 30 years upon conviction.
Wan Nazari admitted that he stabbed his supervisor to death over an old grudge as he believed that it was his supervisor who had caused him to be sacked from the factory.
The victim, who was found smeared in blood at the factory by a security guard, succumbed to his injuries at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital. – BERNAMA
