KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actress Nur Fazura Sharifuddin is reaching new heights in her acting career.

Fresh from winning Best Actress award at the recent Malaysia Film Festival through her performance in Manisnya Cinta Di Cappadocia, the 32-year-old artiste is set to act in Indonesia’s most anticipated movie, Bulan Terbelah Di Langit Amerika.

Under the direction of filmmaker Rizal Mantovani, the film is based on the republic’s popular novel of the same name.

Scheduled for release in January next year, it features some of Indonesia’s popular actors and actresses which include Acha Septriasa, Abimana Aryasatya and Nino Fernandes.

“After winning Best Actress award, I was really determined to challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone. Alhamdulillah, I have been getting many acting offers, be it from local or foreign productions, and Bulan Terbelah Di Langit Indonesia is among them.

“To have the opportunity to work with some of Indonesia’s established actors is really a dream come true. I am really excited about this film,” she said when met at the launch of the Season 2 of Facing Up To Fazura at Starhill Gallery here yesterday.

In the romantic comedy Bulan Terbelah Di Langit America, Fazura plays the antagonist role Janet.

“That’s the reason why I accepted the offer. I rarely get the chance to an play antagonist role,” she said.

That’s not all. The Pahang-born artiste will also contribute her vocals in the movie soundtrack.

“It’s a beautiful ballad. Also entitled Bulan Terbelah Di Langit Amerika, it is a duet with Ridho Rhoma, the son of Indonesia’s legendary singer, Rhoma Irama.

“I really had an amazing time recording the song. It was done at a studio in Jakarta. When I was recording the song, the film crew were also present, making me a little nervous. But thank God, everything went smoothly,” she said.

The six-episode 30-minute Facing Up To Fazura (Season 2) which will premiere over E! (Astro channel 712) at 10pm on Nov 1 will continue to highlight her life as an actress, singer, host and entrepreneur.

“I am so glad that the series now sees Season 2. I hope with this, fans will get to know me even better,” she added.
