GEORGE TOWN: Penang's air quality worsened to unhealthy levels, with an Air Pollutant Index (API) of 105 at 3pm.
At 10am this morning, the air quality was moderate with an API of 84.
This is the second time the API hit unhealthy levels since the haze stemming from slash and burn activities in neighbouring countries.
Last week, Penang's API hit an average of 120 and lasted for two days.
Visibility, too, has been reduced, with Butterworth recording the lowest numbers at 600m.
Bayan Lepas stood at 900m while Prai was better at 3km.
When contacted, Penang International Airport senior airport manager Arif Jaafar said no flights were affected by the worsening haze.
