KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian Army captain from the Royal Army Engineers Regiment is missing after the vehicle he was travelling in with four other foreign soldiers was swept away by floodawaters in Missouri on Dec 26.

An army spokesperson confirmed the incident and said that the victim, Captain Hasman Hussin was in the United States to undergo an engineering course in Fort Leonard Wood.

Based on information from the Malaysian defence attache in the US, the victim went missing after the incident, but the bodies of the four other soldier had already been found.

"The victim is currently classified as missing, and a search operation is still ongoing," he said today.

According to the Army Times, the incident occurred at about 2am on Sunday.

The portal reported that the vehicle the soldiers were travelling in was ‘swept into a creek and rolled over while attempting to cross a low water crossing’.
