JOHOR BARU: Plans to develop a global data hub for the creative industry based in Sedenak are in the pipeline.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said over 20,000ha of land in Sedenak will be developed into a hub for a global data centre for the Iskandar Malaysia region.

"It will be like a second Cyberjaya," he said after attending a Chinese New Year open house celebration hosted by the Johor Baru Tionghua Association.

Khaled said there are already investors keen to invest in the creative industry in the state and complement the development with other amenities such as research and development centres and education institution within the same hub.

"We expect to launch the project by the middle of the year," he said.
