JOHOR BARU: Media Prima Bhd took home three prizes at the 2015 Johor Media Awards held at the Thistle Johor Baru here last night.

Muar-based Berita Harian (BH) journalist, Muhammad Badrul Kamal Zakaria, picked up the Best Tourism and Culture News (Bahasa Melayu) award through his report 'Misteri Gunung Ledang' (The mystery of Gunung Ledang).

Batu Pahat-based BH journalist, Mohamed Farid Noh, won in the Best Economic News (Bahasa Melayu) category for his article entitled 'Dulu Ulat Tiket, Kini Taukeh Bas' (once a ticket tout, now a bus operator).

TV3 journalists Muhammad Nazri Muhammad Nor Azmi Ng and Yahya Kiprawi received the Best Tourism News Coverage for Television award for their story 'Songkok Daerah Johor Baru' (Johor Baru district's songkok).

Each winner received RM2,000, a trophy and certificate.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin was guest-of-honour at the ceremony which was attended by more than 700 media practitioners and other guests.

Twenty-seven categories for both print and electronic media were contested in the ceremony which was organised by the Johor government.

Also present were state Education, Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Committee chairman Datuk Md Jais Sarday and Public Works, Rural and Regional Development Committee chairman Datuk Hasni Mohammad ; Tourism, Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong and Johor Media Club president Muhamad Fauzi Ishak.
