PORT DICKSON: A total of 850 officers and members of the Malaysian Battalion (Malbatt) 850-3 received medals of National Service of the United Nations (TNBB) at the Army Basic Training Centre (ABTC) here today.
The group comprised 76 officers and 774 from other ranks of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), including 27 members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, all who have just completed an Interim Force United Nations (UNIFIL) mission in Lebanon.
Joint Forces Commander Lt Gen Datuk Fadzil Mokhtar said the team did the country proud by executing a successful mission.
"The close ties with local Lebanese residents which was formed by the previous team, was resumed in Malbatt 850-3, allowing the team to function effectively as peacekeepers.
"We hope all officials and members had benefitted from the knowledge and experience gained while working for a year in Lebanon to improve themselves and the team," he said at the medal presentation and dissolution of Malbatt 850-3 ceremony here.
Also present were Vice-Admiral Datuk Anuwi Hassan and Royal Malaysian Airforce Deputy Chief, Lt Gen Datuk Seri Affandi Buang.
