GRIK: Youth in an Orang Asli community in a remote area of Kampung Aman Damai, Banding, were paid a visit today by Kesateria Muda Keselamatan (KMK), an NGO founded by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Dr Seri Zahid Hamidi, which operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

This was the first CSR outreach programme of its kind by members of the KMK, which was led today by its chairman, Mua'amar Ghadafi Jamal Jamaludin.

The KMK was formed about two years ago with the objective of giving advice and talks to youth from all walks of life, regardless of their political leanings. It strives to make youths aware of the dangers involved in extremism and radicalism, and help improve their living conditions.

At the event today, KMK advisor, Khairul Azwan Harun, also handed out boxes of food to the villagers of the Jahai tribe, and promised to provide them with two engines for their non-motorised school boat and a water filter.

"The KMK have done their part in urban areas, like universities and colleges around Malaysia. Today is the first time that we are venturing into rural and remote areas.

"We also want youth from rural areas to know the dangers of drug abuse before they enter the outside world," Khairul said.
