KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Border Security Agency (Aksem) Act is likely to be tabled at Parliament next week.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the Act will strengthen enforcement of security controls along the Malaysia-Thailand border, and will soon be expanded to the Sarawak-Kalimantan and Sabah Kalimantan borders.
"Our aim is for Aksem to take over land border controls nationwide," he said at the Parliament lobby today.
Nur Jazlan added that under Aksem, all officers in border control agencies will report to one commander.
"Aksem will make border operations much smoother," he said.
