KUALA LUMPUR: Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) has announced an income distribution of 6.75 sen a unit and a bonus of 0.50 sen a unit for its Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) fund.
Citing 2016 as a challenging year, the Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) subsidiary noted that this is the third consecutive year of negative returns amid low interest rates, depressed commodity prices and volatile currency environment.
Notwithstanding that, it said ASB manages to record a gross income of RM9.59 billion as at November 30, 2016 with the total income and bonus distribution of RM10.28 billion which would benefit more than 9 million unit holders.
The income distribution rate represents a premium of 3.45 percentage points over the average 3-month KLIBOR of 3.3 per cent as well as 8.45 percentage points above stock market returns.
PNB also declared an income distribution of 5.00 sen per unit for Amanah Saham Nasional (ASN) for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2016.
Going forward, the company expects 2017 to be another uncertain year with sufficient grounds for cautious optimism and strive to sustain competitive returns for its unit holders.
