KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem passed away at 1.24pm today at the Kota Samarahan Heart Centre.
He was 72-years-old.
His death was confirmed by State Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian in a reply to a query from the New Straits Times.
It is understood that Deputy Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg will hold a press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya at 3pm to make the official announcement.
Meanwhile, Cabinet ministers also took to social media to offer their condolences to Adenan’s family.
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, via Twitter, relayed his condolences.
"Condolences to Puan Sri Jamilah and family and the people of Sarawak over the passing of Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem. Al Fatihah," Khairy tweeted.
