SUBANG: National shooter Nur Ayuni Farhana Abdul Halim clinched the women's 10m air rifle gold medal in the Tun Haniff Trophy Championships at Subang Shooting Range today.
The Pahang-born shooter garnered 246.3 points in the final for the title, followed by Selangor's Shahera Rahim Raja (243.50) and Kuala Lumpur's Nur Izazi Rosli (222.20).
Nur Suryani Mohd Taibi, who represented Malaysia in the 2012 London Olympics, could only finish fourth with a 201.11 total.
Nur Ayuni's score is considered a national record under the new scoring system implemented for the first time this year.
Johor shooters Choo Wen Yan and Eddy Chew finished with an identical score of 224 points in the men's 50m pistol but the former won the title following a shoot-out.
Rio Olympian Jonathan Wong of Perak took third spot with 203.6 points.
Lufti Othman of Negri Sembilan won the men's three-position rifle event with 442.10 points, ahead of Police's Hadafi Jaafar (427.90) and Johor's Nik Muhd A'imullah Supardi (417.20).
Armed Forces won the overall title with a haul of 9 gold, five silver and two bronze, followed by Perak (7-3-5) and Pahang (4-7-3).
