KUALA LUMPUR: A drinking session almost turned deadly when a policeman pulled out his service revolver and shot his friend following an argument early yesterday morning.
In the incident, the policeman, a corporal attached to the Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, fired rounds due to an argument.
The incident happened at a restaurant in Sri Rampai, Setapak, about 2am.
It is learnt that the policeman, the victim and another friend were drinking when a fight broke out among them.
The corporal then fired at least five shots with one hitting the victim on the buttocks.
City police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh said the policeman was arrested.
“He has been arrested and his gun seized. He is being investigated for discharging a firearm.
“We are determining if he was really drunk during the incident,” he said at the Federal police contingent headquarters Hari Raya open house.
