PETALING JAYA: The son, daughter-in-law and a friend of legendary guitarist Man Kidal were charged in the magistrate's court today with embezzling RM30,000, from a technician, last year.
The trio however pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Mohd Shefflee Rahman, 33; his wife Shireen Amani Lucia Lerang, 30; and Amirullah Basarullah, 49, were accused of having misappropriated funds totalling RM30,000, belonging to Mohd Shahrizal Mohamad Jaapar, 37, to invest in Global Tijari Industries Sdn Bhd.
The money was allegedly transferred to the bank account of Global Tijari Industries, an investment company owned by Shireen and Amirullah, which was managed by Shefflee.
They were alleged to have committed the offence at Jalan Klang Puchong at 6.02am on June 27, 2016.
The charge under Section 403 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment term of not less than six months and not more than five years and with whipping and liable to fine, if convicted.
In pleading for lower bail, their counsel Mohd Yusri Mohd Yusof asked for the court to not be influenced by the amount of the damages involved.
"Moreover, they do not have a fixed income and Shireen has a seven-month-old baby and she is still breastfeeding," he said.
Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Norazalina Razali proposed RM15,000 bail for each accused.
Magistrate Nurulhuda Zakariya allowed them RM5,000 bail with one surety each and fixed Dec 18 for mention.
The trio did not post bail.
Shefflee is the eldest son of Man Kidal or Rahman Mahmood, who is a member of rock band Lefthanded.
