MELAKA: A Kenyan maid was today sentenced to four months in jail by the Magistrate’s Court here for threatening to kill her employer and his family.
Skeetar Rigine Lameck, 36, pleaded guilty to the charge which was read to her before Magistrate Mohd Firdaus Saleh.
Lameck was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code for committing criminal intimidation against her employer’s wife Hanim Salim A More, 33, and her family at the Swiss Garden Hotel on Aug 21, 2017 at about 9.30pm.
According to the facts of the case, her employer, Ahmed Abdullah A. Alnajmy, 46, lodged a report on Aug 21 at the Melaka Tengah police station as he was concerned for his family’s safety.
His wife had said that the family were trying to calm the maid who was angry and threatening by saying: “I will kill you with Jesus” and “I want to kill you and all family if you pray”.
His wife was feeling scared and immediately informed her husband.
Deputy public prosecutor N. Sivashangari urged the court to impose a detterent sentence.
But the accused, who was unrepresented, urged the court to impose a lenient sentence as she is a divorcee with three children aged eight, 17 and 18. She also has to take care of her mother in her home country Kenya.
It is learnt that the maid has been working with her Saudi Arabian employer for three years and was with the family in Melaka for vacation.
