IPOH: A 48-year-old woman died after she was believed to have been abused by her husband who suspected her of having an affair.

Taiping police chief assistant Commisioner Mohamad Taib said the incident happened at their house in Matang Road, Taiping, on Friday at 9.15am.

Mohamad said the victim was rushed to Taiping Hospital in an ambulance after she was found unconscious before being transferred to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) here.

"The 40-year-old labourer came to the Kuala Sepetang police station and told policemen that his wife had fallen unconscious after he hit her.

"Due to suspected bleeding in the brain, the victim was taken to HRPB here. However, the victim died yesterday about 9.30pm," he said, adding that the man was instantly arrested at the police station.

Mohamad said a post-mortem report revealed that she had sustained head injuries due to blunt trauma.

"The suspect will be remanded for three days for further investigations," he said, adding the case was being investigated for murder.
