IPOH: The Sessions Court here today postponed to Feb 7 its decision on freelance graphic artist Mohd Fahmi Reza Mohd Zarin's charge over a clown sketch of the prime minister.

The postponement was requested by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission's (MCMC) prosecuting officer Nazrul Nizam Mohd Zameri who informed the court that the presiding judge was on sick leave.

Nazrul Nizam suggested that the decision of the case would be made on Feb 7 before judge Murtazadi Amran and it was agreed by Fahmi's lawyer, Louis Liaw, who appeared on behalf of Syahredzan Johan.

On June 10, 2016, Fahmi was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act with posting a poster depicting Prime Minister Datuk Ser Najib Razak in clown face along with the MCMC logo.

He was accused of posting the image on his Facebook page on Feb 8, 2016 at Seraya Sdn Bhd, Batu 3, Jalan Jelapang here.

Fahmi will be liable for a fine of no more than RM50,000 fine, a maximum one-year jail term, or both upon conviction.
