PORT DICKSON: A soldier was charged at the magistrate’s court here today with killing his 9-year-old daughter, Nur Aina Nabihah, on Jan 31.
Mohammad Abdullah Mohamed, 35, was charged with committing the act at his home at Jalan Vista Jaya 5, Taman Vista Jaya, Lukut from 8.30pm to 11.30pm.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
No plea was recorded, however.
Deputy public prosecutor A Ashwini prosecuted, while the accused was not represented.
Magistrate Siti Khairiah Abdul Razak fixed March 15 for mention of the case.
Meanwhile, the accused’s 34-year-old wife, who was Nur Aina’s stepmother, was released on bond under Section 118 of the Penal Code, and will be produced in court as the prosecution’s witness.
It was reported that Aina died as a result of severe abuse, with a post-mortem examination determining that she had injuries to her kidneys, broken bones and other internal injuries.
Both the father and stepmother were arrested on Feb 1.
A forensic investigation conducted at their home the day following Nur Aina’s death led to the discovery of plastic seats and belts which are believed to have been used to assault her.
Nur Aina is suspected of having been treated like a ‘commando’ recruit, as she was regularly forced to do push-ups, sit-ups and squats; and was routinely beaten, kicked and stomped on by her biological father.
