TUARAN: A body was found in a burnt car at Jalan Ranau-Tamparuli near Kampung Tomis here this morning.

It is learned that the car was burnt at about 5am, however, the district fire and rescue only received a call about the incident at about 8am.

The identity of the body, found at the driver’s seat, has yet to be ascertained.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Dzulbaharin Ismail said investigations are ongoing to determine if there were criminal elements.

Meanwhile, district Fire and Rescue station chief Qawie Gapar said five personnel were dispatched to the location, about 60 kilometres from the station, after the call was received.

“When the team arrived at about 9.43am, a Perodua Myvi was found to be completely burnt and there was a body inside.

“The charred remains were handed to the police for further action,” he said when contacted.”
