KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained three security guards employed at a security company, of which its newly employed manager fled with RM2.5mil cash in Rawang on Monday.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said the three security guards in their 30s, have been remanded for two days until today to facilitate the robbery investigation.
“We believe that the three security guards can help shed some light into our investigation while we track down the main suspect, Mohd Hafizan A Aziz, 38, a manager at the firm," he said when contacted.
Fadzil urged anyone with information on Harizan’s whereabouts to contact investigating officer Inspector Jegathiswaren Ganesan at 010-9671818 or the nearest police station.
“The case is being investigated under Section 392 and 397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery as well as Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 for unlawful possession of firearms,” he said.
In the 3am incident at a security firm in Sungai Dua, Rawang, Gombak, the suspect had awakened three security guards on duty saying that the vault had been opened inside the premise.
When the guards rushed in to see, the suspect took their guns and trained it on them before he cleared out the vault.
He then locked the three guards inside the safe room and fled on a motorcycle.
