KOTA KINABALU: A farmer, found guilty of raping his teenage stepdaughter two years ago, has been sentenced to 13 years jail and one stroke of rotan by the Sessions Court today.

When the charge was read to him in a local Dusun dialect before Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim, the 34-year-old accused lowered his head and pleaded guilty.

The accused from Kiulu, Tuaran, was charged under Section 376 of the Penal Code on Nov 27, last year and was prohibited from leaving his residential address.

According to the facts of case, the accused raped his then 14-year-old stepdaughter in the living room of an unnumbered house in Kiulu. He was accused of committing the offence at 1am in Nov 2016.

Deputy public prosecutor Dinesh Raja prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsel Henry Gudit.
