KUANTAN: Road users in several parts around the city are worried following several cases of car windows breaking while the vehicles are moving.
This had been happening since June around Jalan Wong Ah Jang, Jalan Haji Junid, Jalan Kampung Jawa and Jalan Kampung Tengah, here.
It is learned that until now, 11 cars have suffered the same fate, in which irresponsible individuals, or individual, had allegedly been throwing marbles against car windows, while the vehicles were moving.
Kuantan MP's special officer Aidil Haryman Mat Nor said they have received 11 complaints from vehicle owners, adding that four had lodged police reports.
He said based on information received from victims, they believed those responsible had been using an air gun or a slingshot to shoot marbles at moving vehicles plying these roads between 7pm to 12 midnight.
"We were made to understand that this was done while vehicles were moving and these people were either in cars or on motorcycles," he said at a press conference at the Kuantan parliamentary constituency's service centre, here, today.
Aidil Haryman said they hoped the authorities would investigate this matter further as there was concern about robbery being a motive, apart from potentially injuring victims.
"We will meet and discuss with an investigation officer in charge of this case to get further information as well as the individual's motive for carrying out such an act," he said.
Meanwhile, a victim, Chin Tung Joon, 45, said it happened to him last Thursday while he was driving along Jalan Kampung Jawa at about 11.45pm.
"Suddenly my rear window shattered. When I checked, I found a marble believed to have been used to break the window. I made a police report at the Kuantan district police headquarters after the incident," he said.
Chin said it was lucky that the marble did not hit him and hoped the authorities would investigate the matter to ensure it would not happen to anyone else.
