JEMPOL: A 67-year-old senior citizen was among 14 people arrested by police during Ops Ice Breaker held at an oil palm plantation site in Felda Palong 6, here, yesterday.
Jempol acting police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Mohd Nor said the suspect had previously been detained by police, who conducted surveillance at the plantation but was released after he informed the police that he was going to his plantation area.
"The suspect was arrested again at the same location yesterday at 10.30am and cited the same reason.
"However, he was arrested after the urine test conducted on him came back positive for morphine and further investigation found that he has 10 previous drug records," he said.
Mohd Hafiz said police also arrested a 38-year-old suspected drug dealer and 12 addicts during the operation that ended at 4pm.
He said the suspected dealer who came to the location to sell drugs was sitting on a motorcycle in a suspicious manner.
"The suspect tried to escape when the location was raided by police but was arrested. A search on the motorcycle found a plastic container containing 16.24g of heroin.
"Police who were investigating the two suspects also found 0.30g heroin in a cigarrete box and 1.55g heroin and 0.20g syabu in the suspect's backpack," he said.
Mohd Hafiz said the seized drugs amounted to RM755 and the cases was being investigated under Section 39B, Section 12 (3) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
