PERMATANG PAUH: The National Cycling Squad is expected to enjoy a successful campaign in the upcoming Sea Games to be held in Malaysia this Aug.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said this when asked to comment on preparations for the Games, which are highly anticipated.

He said he has high hopes for the cycling team, which has the greatest po¬tential to upset its foreign competitors.

"We hope to retain the gold medal we won in the Men's Road Race and Men's Criterium by Mohd Harrif Saleh in the Sea Games held in Singapore, two years ago.

"With Mohd Azizulhasni Awang, who has tasted success in rec¬ent competitions, leading the cycling squad, our other cyclers will be encouraged to perform their best for the country," Khairy said at a press conference during the Permatang Pauh Fellowship Ride at Pusat Komersial Permatang Pauh here, today.

He added that sponsorship for the Sea Games has hit the 90 per cent mark.

The 29th Sea Games will be held in Kuala Lumpur from Aug 19 to 30 this year.
