BALIK PULAU: Tabung Haji (TH) will reduce the waiting period for its 2.5 million depositors to perform their haj from 89 years to 50 years.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the matter would be set as TH’s key performance indicator in the near future.

He said the waiting period could be shortened if there was an increase in the haj quota.

“Previously, the haj quota was 27,900 pilgrims, which we managed to increase to 30,200 pilgrims. This saw the waiting period reduced from 120 years to 89 years.

“There is a possibility that we will have a higher haj quota of 35,000 pilgrims, and we will bring down the waiting period to 50 years,” he said after attending the Ziarah Kasih Ramadan event here, today.

Present was Balik Pulau member of parliament Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya.
