KUCHING: Heavy rain and strong winds damaged four electricity poles here, affecting power supply to several parts in Damai and Santubong today.

Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) said houses and premises, which are connected to the Santubong 33kV substation, started experiencing power shortage since 6.30pm.

Among the affected areas included the Sarawak Cultural Village, Camp Damai, Damai Lagoon and Santubong Suites.

“Our technical team is on the site to repair or replace the damaged poles and restore supply at the affected areas,”said SEB in a statement.

The state-owned power company said works to restore electricity supply at the affected areas will take around four hours.
