KUALA LUMPUR: The two Malindo Air’s aircrafts, which experienced technical issues last week and had to be grounded, have resulted in massive delays to the airline's other flights.
One aircraft was grounded in Delhi, India on June 25, after it was forced to divert there due to engine issues.
Another aircraft was grounded in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The flight was en route to Kuala Lumpur on June 27 when it returned to Dhaka because of a crack in the windshield.
To address these technical issues, Malindo Air had to reschedule its flights, which in turn, affected flights to other destinations.
The airline's spokesman had reportedly confirmed this, saying a number of departures were affected as a consequence.
"We expect (flight) schedules to go back to normal by tomorrow (July 3)," he said, adding that affected passengers were given meals and accommodation.
These were however not enough to satisfy the passengers, who took to social media to vent their frustrations.
Twitter user @rozelova said: "A Delay Meal Voucher from @malindoair is not enough to satisfy me as no reason was given as to the delay."
Nitesh Agarwal said: "We were supposed to reach India on July 1 at 9pm but until now we are sitting at Kuala Lumpur airport. No help from the concerned airline's staff."
Another Twitter user @qizhenggg twitted to Malindo Air: "Flight delayed for three hours but did not give any earlier notification. Did you forget how many planes you have?"
Samuel (@samueljohn74) tweeted: "@malindoair delayed, no info provided, no Malindo staff to be seen anywhere. Airport staff member didn't even look up from her phone. Bad!"
Facebook user Alix Fave posted on Malindo Air's page: "Yesterday OD1603, Kuching to KL retimed 4 times. Actual flight at 3.55pm departed at 10pm. However seems no compensation given. At least give food voucher anything that can help while we wait."
Koa Ai Jiun posted: "What is wrong with your airline? We have been stuck in KLIA for one whole day. Supposedly flight to Hanoi departed at 9am, now it is 7pm. Yet no explanation by your staff! Totally disappointed with ur airline! First time flying and you can be sure this will be the last time! Our holiday is totally ruined."
These were but a few of the messages left by fuming passengers on Malindo Air's social media pages.
