MELAKA: A 22-year-old boutique assistant died after sustaining serious head injuries in a motorcycle accident along Jalan Bachang Utama 4, here today.
In the 2.20pm incident, Nor Amalina Shahrolzi, 22, fell off her machine after grazing into another motorcycle which was also headed in the same direction, from Melaka Sentral to Tun Fatimah traffic lights.
Melaka Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner Afzanizar Ahmad said Amalina was unable to control her motorcycle and veered off course to the road shoulder on the left.
"She fell from the motorcycle and landed next to a ditch, sustaining fatal head injuries," he said.
The other biker, a 22-year-old businessman, escaped unhurt.
Meanwhile, at the Melaka Hospital here, the victim's mother Roslina Bakar, 46, expressed her devastation at learning of her daughter's death.
Roslina said her daugther had returned home in Tengkera at 2pm to take some belongings and was in a rush to get back to work after the lunch break.
"About 3pm, I received a call from my daughter's friend that she was involved in an accident before getting another call to say that she had died," she said.
Roslina rushed to the scene with her son and she saw the body of her daughter lying there.
"She is a good and a cheerful daughter. I never thought that I would lose her," she added.
