GERIK: A man was shocked to discover a newborn baby boy in some bushes near a hotel at the Royal Belum Rainforest Resort in Pulau Banding here on Friday.

The man, who is attached to the Perak Islamic and Malay Customs Council, was attending a course at the hotel when he heard the baby’s cries through an open window at about 11am.

“The (man) and two friends (followed the sound of the cries) and found the baby boy with his umbilical cord still attached, shivering in the cold,” Gerik police chief Supt Ismail Che Isa said.

He said the man sent the baby to the Sri Banding Camp Clinic here and later to the Gerik Hospital. -- BERNAMA
